Meet Miss Bailey! This sweet snuggle-bug has been waiting for her Forever Home for over a year. Bailey had been rescued from the streets when she was pregnant. She was a wonderfully devoted mother to her two puppies who both have since found Forever Homes. Now it is Bailey's turn to have a happily ever after!! This lady will steal your heart (and your lap) if you give her a chance. Bailey is the sweetest dog when she feels comfortable with you. She's a huge cuddler and prefers to sleep in bed with her humans... possibly even taking over the pillow! She will also sleep in a doggie bed if you prefer. Bailey is a true lap dog. She may growl a little at another pet who comes to get a spot on the same lap, but she has no problem joining another pet on the same lap... even if that pet is a cat.  Bailey doesn't mind the company of cats or other dogs. She is weary of new people at first and does best meeting new people in a relaxed, home setting.

Once a bond of trust is established with her, Bailey will follow you around and love you dearly. This may only take ten minutes since she warms up quickly. Bailey loves her people so much that she can be protective of them, so strangers must be slow and gentle near her until Bailey is ready to say "Hello". Sometimes, Bailey will try to prevent another human from sitting too close on the couch to her, but she is being told "No" and will listen. She's learning she is not the little boss.  Bailey is treat motivated. It's easy to gain her trust if you give her a treat. She is gentle when taking treats from your hand. If you say her name sternly before going into a situation where she might react, Bailey will look to you for guidance during that situation and will behave like a polite lady. She just needs reassurance when she is unsure.  Sometimes she can show fear aggression when meeting new people, but her growl is worse than her bite. Bailey would do best in a home without many visitors. If children will be in her space, they will need to be calm and patient with her. Bailey is best suited for a home with older children or no children. She tends to gravitate towards women but is fine with anyone who gives her a chance to warm up to them.

Bailey likes to ride in the car with you and makes for a great travel companion. She adores squeaky toys and plays rough with them... which is just too cute! She will also bring the toys over to you for a little game of fetch. When Bailey gets playful she does a high-stepping prance which is her little "happy dance". This girl has a big personality that she loves to share with her trustworthy humans. Her forever family will need to be very patient with her in the beginning. Bailey needs a strong pack leader, otherwise she will try to take over as the boss of the house. It must be those motherly qualities that make her such a protective and loyal member of her home!
