Do you believe in second chances?  Everyone deserves a second chance. Lucy is a black and white six year old Heeler/Pointer just like her sister Mollie.  Both were rescued from a humane society as puppies.  They were very much loved by a family who was forced to surrender both of the girls when they lost their house. 

Lucy is an active girl who really enjoys her daily walks, running, hiking and the company of her humans and other dogs.  Lucy knows the commands "sit," "down," and "stay."  Motivators for her are attention and treats.  She especially likes rawhides, smoked pig ears.  Toys are new to her, so she is just learning to play with them.  She prefers canned food, but will also eat the canned mixed with dry.  When in the mood, she loves to snuggle with her humans.  Lucy also loves soft doggy beds!

We had the pleasure of fostering Lucy for two weeks - and what a doll she is! Lucy is polite and obedient.  She sits, lays down, comes when called, and even waits for her dinner!  When she wants to be petted, she sits next to you and gently puts her head and her paw on your lap!

Lucy is not a barker!  She is very quiet and only barked briefly when a visitor arrived.  But does Lucy love visitors!  Her whole body wags when she sees a person - even strangers. Lucy is patient and loving with children.  She does not jump on them and seems to know to be very gentle. Lucy's love of people carries into the home too.  If I was working in my office, she would lay by my feet.  When I went into the kitchen, she would follow and watch me quietly.  She was not needy - she just loves people and wants to be near them!

We took Lucy on lots of walks.  She heels right next to you and does not pull.  Her tail is up and wagging the entire time!  We had the pleasure of taking Lucy snowshoeing with us several times and she absolutely loves the snow.  She even rolls in it and bounds into big piles!  If she needed to go out in between walking times, she would quietly sit by the back door and wait for someone to take her out.

At the dog park, Lucy's favorite game is chase!  She gets along great with other dogs and seems especially fond of smaller dogs.  She is not that interested in balls but seems to like soft, cuddly toys and chewy toys.

Lucy is a big cuddler! She loves anything soft: blankets, carpets, towels, sweatshirts etc. We gave her some blankets to lay on and she would roll herself up inside of it and fall asleep.  We called it her nest.  She also loved sleeping on a dog bed or hanging out on it when we would watch television at night.

Lucy is an amazing, gentle sweetheart!  She is a great dog and we hope she finds the family she deserves.

Adoption fee is $225 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, spay/neuter.  Adoption fees also allow us to continue saving animals. Please email ARRColorado@gmail.com for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time.

Our adoption process is:

1. Adoption application online and meet the animal.

2. Home inspection by one of our volunteers.

3. Adoption agreement online before you pick up animal.

4. Paypal on our website for adoption fee, otherwise pay the foster parent in the form of a check or money order.
